He is (currently inactive due to his RBI's activities) a certified member of the Massachusetts Baseball Umpires Association (MBUA). Coach Bennett has served as the President of the Northbridge Little League and currently coaches the grade 7 and 8 baseball team at Northbridge Middle School where he is also a full-time Language Arts teacher for grade 8. In 1982, he completed his college internship in Public Relations with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. |
Mark Abrain
is the baseball pitching instructor at RBI's. Mark's
baseball background started as a 3-year Varsity player at Warren High
School where he led his team in pitching victories during his Junior
and Senior years. Mark was named All-Division his Senior season.
Mark was also a member of 2 Rhode Island American Legion State
Champions. Mark continued his pitching career at Becker College, where
he led his team in victories his freshman and sophomore year.
Nominated for All-Conference both years. After college,
Mark pitched 2 seasons in the Newport Sunset Baseball League. Mark is
the former Assistant Baseball Coach/Pitching Coach at Uxbridge HIgh
School. The past 2 years he was Head JV Coach, while continuing
his pitching coach duties at the Varisty level. He
has served as
a Board Member of the Northbridge Cal Ripkin Baseball program. Mark has
been the lead pitching instructor at RBI's since its inception.
Mark continues supporting local baseball as the Heach Coach of
the Senior Ruth team in Uxbridge this summer. |
Lauren Symonick is a softball pitching instructor at RBI’s. She
competed at the Division II collegiate level as a lefty pitcher for the
Assumption College varsity softball team (2004-2008) and captained the team her
senior year. She pitched 447 innings (ranked 6th) with 260 strikeouts (ranked
4th) during her college career at Assumption. Lauren was awarded the Rev.
Alfred R. Berthiaume, A.A. ’32 Memorial Award in both 2007 and 2008 for
“going above and beyond” in all areas of competition and leadership and is the
only athlete in the school’s athletic history to have received the award twice.
She was also named Most Valuable Player in 2008 and made the
Northeast-10 Conference SECOND-TEAM all academic, the second highest
athletic/academic award in the NE-10, in 2006, 2007, and 2008 |
